Step 2. Make a loop up and around to the right and slide needle under first foundation stitch (but from below this time); pull thread through with a downward motion. Continue placing two stitches, which do not pierce the fabric, in each of the foundation stitches. Slide needle under foundation stitch at side edge.
Step 3. Work back in the same manner, but sliding the needle under the loop formed on the previous row.
RHYTHM
Up / loop down—pull (down) through —loop up—pull (up) through—pull down
USES
As filling, works best on a squared area, but may be used in circles.
REMARKS
Only the knots at the beginning and end of the buttonhole filling will show on the back, along with the foundation stitches. The filling “floats.”
